| Freelancing - Author Profile P.T. Harvey has done a goodly amount of widely divergent non-fiction writing over the course of her life. In the fiction arena, she achieved certification for successful completion of a set of fiction writing courses (Biola University, La Mirada, CA) to hone her writing craft. In addition, her non-fiction book, Scout, a Journey in Faith, was published in late 2008 by Publish America. If interested, you can check out the Home page and Bio for more detail about her book and life. Please read on... Non-fiction experience & credits include: In working for local newspapers in both California and Ohio, as well as for a specialty advertising company out of Oregon, she has written successful ad copy for diverse types of businesses, including restaurants, automotive, vehicle sales, auctioneers, custom bakery, financial products, computer businesses, cleaning & handyman businesses, ministries, daycare, and numerous other types of businesses. She also wrote winning ad copy while on contract for both a Minnesota barter-to-barter business and a Utah solar franchise company (please note the sales training manuals info below). Smart, accurate copy writing (along with certain organizational, networking, and managerial skills) also aided her greatly in successfully turning a red-ink senior housing facility in Muskingum County, Ohio into a black-ink facility in less than 1 year. - In a completely different vein, in the past she's written the following diverse manuals and booklets for various for-profit and non-profit entities:
* An office manual (believed to still be in use today) for the office of the marketing V.P. of a national acrylic products company in Alpine, California; the V.P. said it was "the best I've ever seen." * Sales training manuals on contract for a solar franchise in Utah and a business-to-business barter company in Minnesota, both of which were used - along with fierce sales training she was also under contract to employ - to turn these red-ink companies into black ink companies. In both cases, all goals were met and surpassed in about one-half the contract time. * Several then widely used how-to type organizational booklets for both the Stow and Ohio Jaycee Wives organizations, with such titles as Leadership, Speak-Up, and Motivation. In addition, for eleven years, she designed, co-wrote, co-edited and published an inspirational & teaching newsletter for a Christian non-profit corporation, which newsletter appeared under the final name of Faith Odyssey – a Walk in the Spirit Journal. Based on readers' requests, readership gradually expanded across the country and into Canada. Several of her poems (under the nom de plume Penelope Trier Thomas) have been published in The National Library of Poetry’s anthologies. * She has received awards for three of her published poems, including an invitation for the final one of those awards to be presented at the National Library of Poetry's Annual Awards Ceremony held in Florida. Fiction: - In the early 1990's, she completed a dual-certificate writing course for fiction at Biola University, La Mirada, California. During those courses, she had the opportunity to work briefly and be mentored by a published author.
- She has recently completed a children’s book, entitled The True Story of Christmas is Love (subtitle: St. Nicholas' True Message), for which she is currently looking for a publisher.
- Other works in the planning stage include an allegory tentatively entitled, Lambie Pie.
